Dr. Alison Berglund, PT, DPT
Founder and Physical Therapist
Dr. Alison Berglund founded her practice on the philosophy that through physical therapy and building strength, patients can overcome injuries to achieve their goals. Just like her.
In 2014, as an undergraduate at the University of Delaware, Alison developed a knee injury while training for her first marathon. Multiple healthcare professionals told her to “just stop running.” One physical therapist even said that “some people’s bodies are not made to run marathons.” In typical runner fashion, however, Alison continued to train and completed the marathon—with quite a bit of pain.
After starting PT school at UNC Chapel Hill, she came to better understand the human body and address the root cause of her injury. The issue was not that her body isn’t made to run marathons, but that her body was not yet ready for the training load running a marathon requires. With a proper training plan and targeted exercise regimen, she healed from injury and started running pain-free. Since then, she has completed multiple marathons, ultramarathons, and triathlons. With each new endeavor, Alison sees the strength and resiliency of the human body.
She has experience rehabilitating soldiers in the 82nd airborne division of the US Army, and has also worked with numerous runners, athletes, weekend warriors, patients with neurological disorders, and people with nagging aches and pains.
Alison is passionate about her career as a physical therapist and loves helping patients overcome their challenges to crush their goals. She often runs alongside her clients at local run groups throughout Mount Pleasant and Charleston.
